The Xacti HD800 is quick to focus on and capture people’s faces. It can detect up to 12 faces simultaneously, even if they’re moving. It also offers automatic exposure for selected areas, automatic focus for a centered subject, and face zoom during playback.
• Note that results of using the face chaser function may vary, depending on the subject and shooting conditions.

The HD800 incorporates a macro mode that’s ideal for shooting anything from flowers to items you want to auction online. Stunning close-ups of small objects capture every beautiful detail.

A maximum of 60x zooming is possible by combining the 5x optical zoom with the digital zoom. You can capture special scenes, such as your child’s natural facial expression or a memorable scene from your travels.
With the HD800, you can shoot high-resolution 8.0-megapixel still images at a sensitivity of up to ISO 1600. You can shoot images with more natural color and more detailed facial expressions, whether indoors or in night-time scenes when you don’t want use the flash.
By selecting a mode to suit the shooting situation, you can get stunning shots with optimum set-ups.

It's not just sports that look good in this mode: You can also capture blur-free shots of other moving subjects, such as children or pets.

Both the subject and the background are rendered naturally, capturing the night-time atmosphere.

When shooting distant scenery, the entire image is brought into sharp focus. This mode can also be used at night.

Fireworks in the night sky are recorded in all their vivid brightness.

This lets you capture images under minimal lighting conditions, where it would normally be too dark to shoot. (Note: For still images, only the 2 M, 0.9 M, and 0.3 M modes are available.)

Beautiful pictures can be taken against bright backgrounds, such as snow-covered mountains or sandy beaches, without suffering from white-out.

The subject stands out clearly against a deemphasized background.
