The resulting files are small in size, which makes them easier to handle and lets you record more minutes of high-quality video. Compared to DVD (MPEG-2), files are about half the size, yet picture quality is the same or better. The HD700 can also connect directly to a large-screen 16:9 HDTV and render images of such high quality that you can clearly see individual strands of hair and highly detailed patterns.
Note: For HD movie playback, an HD-compatible TV is required.
Electronic Image Stabilizer for Movies
For movie recording, the Xacti HD700 employs a digital image stabilizer capable of accurately discerning unintentional camera shake from deliberate camera movements, such as pans and tilts. It corrects for unwanted shake without sacrificing the natural feel of recording clips.
Note: Using the electronic image stabilizer may change the angle of view.
5x Optical Zoom Lens
The Xacti HD700 incorporates a high-performance 5x optical zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F3.5, allowing distant subjects and people to be captured beautifully. Up to 60x zooming is possible when the optical zoom is augmented by the 12x digital zoom.
Clearly Defined Movie Recording at Min. 5 Lux Illumination in High Sensitivity Mode

Large, Easy-to-View 2.7-Inch LCD Monitor
A large 2.7-inch wide TFT LCD monitor is built into the compact body. It enables you to see and confirm images before and after shooting. The monitor itself rotates approximately 285 degrees. It can be adjusted to suit your preferred shooting stance, whether you’re shooting at a high or low angle, or aiming at yourself. It enables you to see and confirm images before and after shooting
Fast Startup from Standby
Closing the monitor while the Xacti HD700 is turned on automatically puts it into stand-by mode. Then, once the monitor is opened, the HD700 starts up and is ready for shooting straight away. By allowing you to skip the usual on/off process, the HD700 delivers easy viewing and fast shooting.

The Xacti HD700’s noise-reduction system minimizes noise caused by wind during shooting The 48 kHz, 16-bit, 2-channel sound of AAC-LC (MPEG-4 Audio) matches the realism of your HD movies. Thanks to our original low-frequency restoration technology, the Xacti HD700’s noise-reduction system minimizes noise caused by wind during shooting. The HD700 also features an external headphone terminal.
